At the APEC conference in March in Anaheim, California, COMPOSITION demonstrated the acoustic emissions condition monitoring system deployed to enable predictive maintenance of reflow oven fans at Boston Scientific in Clonmel, Ireland.

On March 12, a technical review took place at Boston Scientific Ltd., where solutions for Predictive Maintenance and Asset Tracking were demonstrated. These solutions are considered promising exploitation outcomes.

On March 14, a second technical review was completed at KLEEMANN Hellas S.A. and at ELDIA S.A. in Greece. The demonstration included real-time responses from the Visual Analytics tool and notifications from the Decision Support System.

A joint webinar to share the outcomes of the Networking Session "Federated Smart Factory Ecosystem" is being planned for February.

COMPOSITION participated in Maintenance Forum 2018 in Athens, presenting two maintenance-related solutions.

EFFRA, ECSO and the European Commission's DG Connect will co-host a workshop centred on cybersecurity for manufacturing environments (17 October, Brussels). “One of the main concerns of COMPOSITION is the security of the integrated system", says Mr. Jorge Rodriguez from partner ATOS, who will participate in the workshop.

The Decision Support System and the Matchmaking Process have been evaluated in real operating conditions, providing helpful insights about the direction of further deployments.

Tyndall National Institute hosted a 3-day energy harvesting workshop in Cork from 29 to 31 May. Partners from Tyndall and Boston Scientific Limited presented the anticipated impact of COMPOSITION at EnerHarv 2018.

KLEEMANN had the opportunity to present the COMPOSITION project to the “Recycling in Business and Environmental Protection” event, organised by the Chamber of Kilkis on May 18 in Kilkis, Greece.

The 5th Technology Forum (www.technology-forum.eu) is going to take place, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on 16 May, 2018. COMPOSITION pilot partners have linked the identified use cases to specific factory fields according to specifications and user needs. Preparation actions, installation of sensors and first tests for the top priority use cases have been performed. At KLEEMANN’s shopfloor, preliminary results are promising, and potential improvements in the internal production processes and the external supply chain processes have been identified.

On 5 and 6 February, EFFRA organised a dissemination event on digital platforms in manufacturing in association with the ConnectedFactories Coordination and Support Action. COMPOSITION was present both in the public and the closed sessions.

We are proud to announce that KLEEMANN has received the gold award for the category “Waste Prevention” at the “Waste and Recycling Awards 2017” ceremony. The main theme of the ceremony was the celebration of the commitment of Greek companies’ to best practices for zero waste.
